Q. What software do I need to enjoy Retrocade fully?
A. You will need both Javascript and, of course, Adobe Flash available to your
browser in order to get the most out of the site. While most modern browsers
support Javascript, Flash is not always installed by default. You can install
Flash or upgrade you existing version through Adobe's Flash Player
page.
Q. What browsers are supported?
A. Currently Retrocade is best viewed in one of these browsers:
Q. What is Retrocade?
A. Retrocade is a portal for Flash games with a distinctly oldschool theme. We
believe that games were better when you could see the pixels in all their
chunky squareness! Here you'll find games inspired by titles for the classic
8-bit systems like the Spectrum, Commodore 64, NES and Sega Master System to
name but a few. We're glad you found us and hope you enjoy your stay!
Q. So it's a site for Flash retro remakes?
A. Not exactly. While we do include games that remake existing retro titles,
we also try to seek out new content with an oldschool look and feel. In short,
if it's retro and it's good enough quality, it's here! Unlike other sites, we
try to inject our own unique style and humour into things. Our aim is to make
you smile and take you back to when games were fun for more than just the
first playthrough.
Q. What are Retrocreds and why should I want them?
A. Retrocreds are the site's virtual currency for stuff which we have
yet to make available. Things that we class as "premium" content will be
purchasable with Retrocreds, including anything from nifty profile
customisations to bonus content for Retrocade games. Beyond that we wouldn't
want to say too much, but it's surely worth trying to get as many 'Creds as
you can!
Q. How can I acquire these Retrocreds?
A. There's more ways to get 'em than you can shake a marmot at! First of all,
if you haven't already, you should register a free
Retrocade account - only registered users can earn 'Creds. Once you're
signed up and logged in, you can start collecting the good stuff by:
Q. Is Retrocade family-friendly?
A. We certainly try to be. The Retrocade staff closely monitors and moderates
the content that appears on the site so that gamers both young and old can
have a pleasant stay. If you notice something bad has slipped through our net,
we would very much appreciate it if you told us about
it.
Q. Do I have to register to play games on Retrocade?
A. Nope, not if you don't want to! However, guest users miss out on so much
awesome stuff that we really would recommend that you sign up. It's free,
after all, and takes less than a minute.
Q. What does Retrocade use my personal details for?
A. Your information is private and is only used by Retrocade to allow our site
to give you the features of a registered account - forum access, game rating,
Retrocred collection and so on. We promise not to abuse your trust, and will
never sell your data to advertisers or any other third party, nor will we
send you spam emails. For full details please see our
Privacy Policy.
Q. Help, all my comments are said to be under moderation!
A. Stay calm! Each new user has to accumulate three approved comments before they
can comment freely. As simple as that, post three decent comments, and once we
approve them everything you post in the future will be immediately displayed.
Q. I have posted a link in a comment and it is now under moderation!
A. To fight spam (and because links are not required for comments) until you make at least
10 comments (or that many forum posts) all comments with links will be held for moderation.
Q. I can't post links on the forum!
A. For the same reason as above, users who have posted less than 10 times on the forums
are not elgible to posting links. Simply spend some time being active on our forums
and you will soon be able to include links in your posts.
Q. When will you approve my comments?
A. At least twice a day, once around morning and once around evening, we are going through the
comments list and approving desirable content.
